Voyager New Year 2018
Voyager is an annual New Year’s Eve production currently in it’s fifth year, created and executed by Canvas Chicago. The event combines creative networking, visual installation, and local/national/ international artistic performances to create one of Chicago's most stimulating NYE celebrations.
NASA launched the twin Voyager space probes in the late 1970s on a mission to explore our solar system and beyond. Both Voyager crafts carry messages from Earth on a golden phonograph record. The cultural time capsule have records that contain images of people and animals, sounds from nature, spoken greetings in 55 different languages, an EKG of a woman falling in love, and music of every kind - from Elvis to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. In 2012, The Voyager 1 probe left our solar system.
